History of Dentistry
The first information about the history of dentistry dates back to 7000 BC. There is information on the removal of dental caries with flint and curved boards in Baluchistan, Pakistan. In 500 BC, the first toothpaste was used in the China-India region. The first known dentist is Hesi-Re in ancient Egypt in 2700 BC.
In modern times, dentistry, which has been seen as a branch in medical science for many years, started in the 18th century. In our country, it started to develop as a separate branch of science in the 19th century. The faculty, which was put into service as the Dentist School on October 28, 1909, has become the first educational institution of our country to provide modern education in modern dentistry. Today, 79 dental faculties have started education. 23 faculties have not started education yet.

Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
Makes the diagnosis of diseases and disorders in the mouth, jaw and tooth region and makes the radiological and clinical determination of the treatments to be made. Dentists who complete their specialization training in this branch receive the title of Oral, Maxillofacial and Dental Radiologist.
Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery
It is the department where the necessary surgical procedures of all soft tissues, bones and teeth in the mouth, jaw and teeth area are performed. Recently, it has been in continuous development with botox applications especially for implants and teeth clenching (brucisism). Dentists who complete their specialization training in this branch receive the title of Oral, Maxillofacial and Dental Surgeon.

It is a department that aims to protect the permanent and milk teeth of children between the ages of 0-14 and to eliminate problems such as caries and trauma when necessary. Dentists who complete their specialization training in this branch receive the title of Pedodontist or Pedodontist.
Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment)
It is a branch of dentistry that treats diseases that occur in the pulp and surrounding tissues. This treatment, also known as Root Canal Treatment among the people, does not cause pain or pain as it is thought. Dentists who complete their specialization training in this branch receive the title of Endodontist.
Orthodontics Orthodontics (Braces)
It is the branch of dentistry that diagnoses and controls problems such as crowding between the jaws and teeth, tooth spacing, as well as the incompatibility of the jaws with each other in every age group, and makes and applies a treatment plan to correct the situation. Treatment methods include braces, brackets, clear plaques, orthognathic surgery. With the specialization training they will receive, they are entitled to use the title of Orthodontist.
It is the branch of dentistry that diagnoses the problems that occur in the gingival tissues surrounding the teeth (gingival bleeding, gingival recession, loosening of the teeth, color and form disorders of the gingival tissue) and applies treatment-oriented methods. Dentists who complete their specialization training in this branch receive the title of Periodontologist.
In addition to the application of artificial teeth to replace lost and missing teeth, it is the branch of dentistry that aims to eliminate deficiencies in the tongue, jaw and face prosthetically. Dentists who complete their specialization training in this branch receive the title of Prosthesis Specialist.
Basically, it is the branch of dentistry that diagnoses and treats all the discomforts and problems that occur in the enamel and dentin layer. Filling treatment is among the people in this specialty. Dentists who complete their specialization training in this branch receive the title of Restorative Dentistry Specialist.
